The Lancaster Performing Arts Center provides access to the Arts for over 20,000 students and their teachers annually, regardless of ability to pay. In these times of funding cuts and with so many organizations in need of support, we remember that the Arts are integral and continue to inspire and enrich our world, and the lives of so many children. With over 20 years experience, LPAC's Arts for Youth program helps educators bring the diverse world of language arts, history/social studies, science, and mathematics, lifting the performing arts right “off the page” for their students, preparing them for an increasingly complex and multicultural society.
The Arts for Youth program presents culturally intensive educational shows and workshops for grades K-12 that open the classroom to the creative and imaginative process. The program offers school shows and student workshops, directly aligned with the California Content Standards and the California Department of Education’s Common Core Standards, to integrate the arts into your lesson plans. There is something for every school and student. Imagine what an arts-inspired lesson plan will do for your classroom! It not only teaches about the arts (music, theatre and dance) but also uses the arts as a dynamic tool for teaching and learning all core subjects, such as math, science, history, and literature. The performances and workshops, complete with Lesson Plans and Study Guides provide an enjoyable high quality curriculum-based learning experience for all students.
Through exposure to live performance and engaging participation, we seek to ensure that the arts remain an integral part of our community’s rich inheritance. The Arts for Youth program offers rich and rare opportunities to observe artists creating their work.
From Challen David, 8th Grade Teacher at Keppel Academy, January 2011:
"I wanted to thank you SO much for allowing our school the opportunity to participate in the workshops. I cannot rave enough about them. To be honest, my co-workers and I were nervous about an assembly about ballet for our 8th graders who think they're cooler than everything and everyone. NONE, and I mean ZERO, of them have ever seen a live art performance of any type, much less ballet. I've been teaching for 4 years, and I've never been to an assembly where the kids were more respectful and entertained and engaged. I could not believe how good they were. They were captivated the entire time!"
